Memorie della Società Astronomica Italiana. Journal of the Italian Astronomical Society. 75. 3. 2004

Le Memorie Della Società Astronomica Italiana sono una rivista scientifica a carattere professionale pubblicata trimestralmente dalla Società Astronomica Italiana. È una delle più antiche riviste di astronomia nel mondo, essendo stata fondata nel 1872 da Pietro Tacchini come Memorie della Società degli Spettroscopisti Italiani. Fu soltanto che 1920 che essa adottò il nuovo nome, quando la Società degli Spettroscopisti fu trasformata nella Società Astronomica Italiana. Per oltre un secolo, le Memorie costituirono la principale rivista scientifica dove gli astronomi italiani pubblicavano, generalmente in italiano, i loro lavori di ricerca. In tempi più recenti, l'internazionalizzarsi della cultura scientifica ha condotto all'adozione generalizzata della lingua inglese e alla pubblicazione dei lavori di ricerca su riviste internazionali. Per queste ragioni, le Memorie hanno subito un radicale cambiamento a metà degli anni '70. Da quella data, le Memorie pubblicano esclusivamente gli Atti di congressi nazionali e internazionali su ogni campo dell'astrofisica moderna, e l'inglese è diventato la lingua ufficiale della rivista. Ciascun fascicolo delle Memorie è dedicato ad un singolo tema e i vari fascicoli costituiscono indispensabili opere di riferimento sia per gli astronomi professionisti che per le biblioteche astronomiche.
