The Valencia Biennial is the first biennial dedicated to communication between the arts. This project, by Luigi Settembrini, is based on two interconnected considerations: that all the creative languages of contemporary culture now occupy the same niche, forcing the different languages to establish a mutual dialogue and interaction; and that the flow of communication gives all these media repeated and unique occasions for visibility, thanks to the press, television, satellite and Internet. In this era marked by violent, aggressive, approximate, accelerated, anxious and vulgar language, art must play a leading and guiding role. It must accept comparisons, interaction and, above all, knowledge. This catalogue contains a novelty: in addition to documenting all the artists present at the first Valencia Biennial, it includes 100 pages of photographs of the performances, the events and installations of all the works at the different spaces in Valencia.
