The works of Cleto Munari fully crystallize Italian creativity, in terms of design, manufacturing and innovation. Italian design is one of the excellences that the world recognizes in us and Cleto Munari is one of the protagonists and that is why at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples we are happy to present his jewels, in a world premiere. Design can also represent a vector of innovation for museums and it is in this direction that Mann has started a refl ection on merchandising for the new growth and enhancement strategies of the museum institution. In his long and eclectic life, Munari has gone through very different types, shapes and materials: from pens to carpets, from gold to glass, from furnishings to bags, but it is above all in jewels that his inspiration has found its most complete expression. Jewels where the preciousness of the materials is never an end in itself but, rather, represents the search for harmony between form and function, where gems express the beauty of nature and its colors. The selection curated by Professor Cappellieri clearly highlights the unusual dual role of Cleto Munari as a designer and as a publisher, his meticulous ability to work on different project scales: from the macro of a collection where he selects international poets, artists and architects for explore heterogeneous languages up to the micro of a detail that well represents the best Italian manufacturing. The red thread that unites these microworlds is the excellence of the great Vicenza goldsmith tradition which, through the project, manages to connect the past with the present, in an uninterrupted dialogue of beauty.
