Like a sort of modern-day "Ariadne's thread", Dante's lyrics showed Biagini the way to find, and photograph, those places and those elements that the poet might have seen and have experienced. The question, when looking at a landscape or a setting that he was about to photograph, was: "Can Dante be seen in this picture?". This very original journey leads every reader through all the places known by Dante in his beloved Tuscan land: of the many different elements, one that comes immediately to mind is for example the marvellous architectural combination of the Badia Fiesolana, where the medieval structure was the natural support for renaissance renewal.
Thanks to Luigi Biagini, we do understand it is still possible today to find spaces where modern man, like his ancestors, can take refuge, to rediscover that human and spiritual dimension which all too often seems to have been lost: places such as churches, cathedrals, monasteries or humble chapels, because it is here, in these real "islands of time", that, irrespective of any religious beliefs, man finds within himself that human, yet universal, condition which enables him to merge substance with spirit once again.
