Il volume mostra il rilievo fotografico delle facciate di tredici palazzi celebri di via Garibaldi a Genova, la "Rue des Rois", come la definì Madame de Staël. Il rilievo, effettuato dal fotografo Piero Migliorisi, è stato condotto con riprese fotografiche ravvicinate, realizzate a quote progressive grazie a macchine elevatrici. Le fotografie sono state poi rielaborate al computer per ottenere i prospetti integrali delle facciate.
