The image of the city is always very appealing to an artist, and Berlin, radically changed after the fall of its Wall, represents an ideal challenge: the new constructions have altered entire city center neighborhoods, many buildings have been renovated and many more have been totally rebuilt. New symbols have risen that give new reference points to tourists and a part of their own identity to the inhabitants. Miresi, an Italian painter who travels back and forth between this German city and Milan, was seduced by the Reichstag's transparent vault, the work of Sir Norman Foster, by Daniel Libeskind's Jewish Museum, which aroused the attention of the entire world already when it was being built, and by the Potsdamer Platz, the city's pulsating center with its skyscrapers.
Through her painting Miresi transforms these structures into expressions of a feeling of life, of energy, of the dynamics she strongly perceives in the city's spirit and atmosphere. Miresi, with her vertical lines, bold colors, sharp contours, has banished Man and Nature so as to emphasize the solitary power of architecture.
