Marinus Julius van Raalte (1873-1944) worked in Amsterdam. After helping jews who escaped from Nazi Germany, he died in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Most of his works were lost in World War II but enough remains to afford an insight into his oeuvre, which shows distinctive characters. This book is a treasure throve for anyone interested in early twentieth century art.
