"Fifteen years ago I set up a non-profit organisation with a group of friends...". Crazy God grew out of photographer Yvonne De Rosa's voluntary work in the early 90's at an old Italian psychiatric hospital whose name and location she does not want to reveal. Recently, six years after the hospital was closed, De Rosa returned to the wards and corridors of the old and now run down building to document the vacuum left by the inmates. This reconnaissance led to a sensitive and touching study of the former patients solely through portraying the objects left behind and the words they had freely written on the walls. Thoughts, notes and testimonies of suffering which in the extensive deterioration recorded by the camera eye seem to have a recondite, almost divinatory meaning... Born in Naples in 1975, Yvonne De Rosa was trained at the Central Saint Martins College for Art and Design in London. In 2006 she was awarded the "Women in Photography International" prize and her works are part of the Arco Madrid collection. She lives in London where she works as a freelance photographer.
