Castellammare has always attracted tourists and foreign people because of the warmth of its climate, the wholesomeness of the air and the presence of its curative thermal waters. This richness has contributed to the development of the ancient Stabiae, proved by the archaeological remains of its Roman villas and by the numerous churches and monasteries littered in the Stabian Ager, which fascinated curious people and academics on one side and religious believers on the other side. Noteworthy, it's also the commercial development of the town due to its strategic position on the sea and surrounded by different mountains, which allowed the foundation of an important shipyard. The author collects and analyzes all this information, making it available to the reader who will be fascinated by the rich iconographic presentation too. In addition to the attractions belonging to the material heritage of the town, there are others representing its intangible heritage: its local traditions, listed by the author and sometimes remembered with regret.
