Dante Gabriel Rossetti was one of the most fascinating and perhaps even the most important artist among the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Known for his paintings featuring red-haired femme fatales with sultry pursed lips who were painted in environments full of hidden symbolism, Rossetti's oeuvre actually consisted of much more. This publication gives us a survey of Rossetti's development as an artist and tells us about his sources of inspiration and his muses such as Elizabeth Siddal, his medieval subjects and, of course, the portraits of women for which he became so famous. The book also gives a portrait of this Bohemian himself and the many amorous involvements and relationships he had with his models during the prudish Victorian era.
