Reversed Cities, the latest project by Milan-based pho-tographer Francesco Pignatelli, is consacred to the very idea of a metropolis caught between hardcore reality and dreamy metaphysics. The stark urban shots, defined by power of light and chromatic inventions alone, are a mere way of reinterpreting the profound liaisons coexisting in photography, painting and film, an approach that is typical of the artist's own poetic. The pics themselves register the ever-vanishing, yet life-altering-and-generating human presence deep inside the bowels of the most famous European towns, as well as of mega-cities like Tokyo, Caracas and New York: a universe of directional
centers, streets with their own geometry solely defined by carefully alligned cars, street signs, billboards, safety exits and derelict alleys.
