GUIDE TO THE COLLECTING OF AUTOGRAPHS The present volume derives from the need to provide a valid reference work for those who wish to start or develop their collection of autographs. This is in fact a guide to the collecting of autographs. It is not a catalogue; therefore, there are no valuations.
The author, F.M. Amato, proposes examples of how to order and catalogue the items according to the classifications of important scholars and collectors; moreover, he presents his own division into different categories to help collectors in organising their own personal collection. Very useful suggestions are given about restoration, maintenance and preservation of the documents.
The guide presents an example of collection and the reproduction of several autographs divided following their subject of interest: Popes, Cardinals, people of the Church, rulers, politicians, musicians, poets, writers, scholars, artists, scientists and inventors, sportsmen, pilots, astronauts and also philatelists. In appendix no.6 there is a peculiar example of how to join the collecting of autographs and the passion for philately.
