This guide is designed to help visitors find out about the events that took place in the Cinque Torri area between 1915 and 1917. It is a synoptic presentation of the people and war events that left a mark on these enchanting mountains. A large open air Museum has been established in the Cinque Torri-Averau, Falzarego Pass-Lagazuoi, Sass de Stria-Tre Sassi Fort area. This Museum illustrates the still-visible consequences of the Great War and helps us appreciate the value of peace among the peoples of Europe. The trails, partly restored with the help of original documents and the collaboration of numerous researchers, can easily be followed by visitors of all ages equipped with suitable mountain gear. The Cinque Torri area is easily accessible from the Dolomites Road. At Bai de Dones, three kilometres before the Falzarego Pass coming from Cortina d'Ampezzo, a chair lift quickly carries visitors to the slopes of the Cinque Torri, where the tour of the trenches starts.
