Francesca Galliani (1962) received a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art (Photography) from the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. After living in the United States for 21 years, she now divides her time between New York and Milan. Galliani has traveled around the world in order to capture a wide range of realities with her lens, and has always taken a special interest in portraying those who are marginalized by judgmental societies. This volume brings together female nudes that are provocative and transgressive, rebellious and fragile; the result of breaking through the subtle yet impenetrable screen of the indiscreet gaze, they are images that only a woman could have succeed-ed in 'seeing.' About her radical photographic sensibility she has said: "My creativity comes from the spirit." Her
photos are pure affirmations of being oneself, of accept-ing the truths that life concedes to us. Forming a sort of intimate diary, these works are also fascinating from a technical standpoint. Each is realized through various printing, toning and mixed media techniques that render the final image uniquely irreproducible.
