For three years, the British photographer Nick Waplington worked closely with New York fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi, granted rare back stage access to photograph every detail of the designers fitting sessions in the weeks running up to his twice-yearly fashion shows. Combining Waplingtons gritty vérité style with Mizrahis haute-couture sensibilities, the resulting images offer a candid glimpse into the world of fashion from a time in the industry when supermodels including Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell reigned supreme. At the same time, Waplington set out to document the wildly creative night-life of New York's 90s ""club kid"" culture, juxtaposing his images of uptown style with downtown looks, taking picture at some of the cities most infamous clubs of the time, the Pyramid Club and Save the Robots among them. Images for Waplingtons book will be included in the 2016 Isaac Mizrahi exhibition at New Yorks Jewish Museum.
