This publication documents his continuing exploration of the importance of architecture as a means to deconstruct the complexity of the socio-political and historical narrative of a city. In his work, the city acts as a metaphor not only for the nature of the human condition but as a trope of the failure of 20th century ideologies. Garaicoa uses Havana, the city where he grew up as the starting point for a large number of his works and from there he applies a similar methodology when approaching the megacities in locations such as Japan and Brazil. Garaicoa's publication acts as an archive of a city in stages of ruin and renewal and reflects on the homogenisation of our cities.
