Particularly rich is the section on 15th century Flemish religious works by Van der Weyden as by the Florentine and Venetian masters like Ghirlandaio and Carpaccio.
From the golden age of Dutch painting, the collection includes two canvases by Rembrandt and the magnificent Portrait of Helena Fourment, by Rubens.
The collection's section of 18th century French painting corresponds to museum's extensive interest in the art produced in France in that era. Special mention must be given to works by Fragonard, and Quentin de La Tour, among others.
From the first half of the 19th century works by Turner stand out. The landscapists connected to the Barbizon School are also well represented by such names as Daubigny, Corot and Millet. Also from France, the collection includes masterpieces by Fantin-Latour, Manet, Monet, Renoir and Degas, that clearly illustrate the richness of this exceptionally creative period which begun in the mid-1870s.
Key Selling Points - The book offers a sort of visual visit in which each paintings is reproduced in its entirety and then in close-ups of smaller details. The close-up views make it possible to put single details into focus.
- An introductory essay provides depth and background to one of Europe's most distinct and important collection of classic and modern art.
