This compendium of the work of the New York Architect Diane Lewis, focuses on the relationship between the spatiality and detail of the projects and its relationship to the dramatic black and white syntactical plans and sections for which she is known. The projects reveal an "Inside New York "view of architecture of the last twenty years. which include some of the major art galleries, museum projects, film studios, theatres, museums, domiciles, educational building projects and site studies based in the highly conceptualized relation to the memory of the city; a unique vision of existing sturcture history and contemporary form. As a seminal figure at Cooper Union and as a Rome Prize winner, the projects are strongly positioned in issues of the architecture of the city, abstraction, and the vision of architecture as parallel to contemporary literature and conceptual art. The accompanying essays are to be announced, but will include the writings of the international colleagues with whom she has particpated during this time.
