Marcello Dudovich (Trieste, 1878- Milan, 1962), son of a
daring irredentist, created in almost sixty years of activity
the ebullient artist's name was linked to memorable
advertising posters which entered into the history of
Italian poster art, commissioned by important firms like La
Rinascente, Assicurazioni Generali, Agfa, Borsalino, Pirelli,
Campari and the Neapolitan Mele brothers department
stores. He was also a painter and took part in the Venice
Biennial in addition to being a multi-talented decorator;
he was appointed by the Air Ministry and Forlanini Airport
and received private commissions for the embellishment
of the interiors of large villas belonging to the Italian nobility.
Forty years from his death Dudovich finally gets what
he deserves: the recognition of his role as an extraordinary
and prophetic communicator. This volume, an essential
scientific tool given the gaps in the artist's bibliography, is
also, due to its rich texts and pictures, an astonishing read.
