Beatriz Millar (Einsiedeln, Switzerland, 1967) has been a gradeschool teacher, has studied at an academy of sculpture of wood in Lucerne and fashion design in Milan. In the meantime, she has carefully observed the works by the artists of the past and has meditated on the meaning of the different styles of painting. In her work, she tries to eliminate any kind of redundancy, superficiality and, by intensifying a continuous design and zones of pure color, she achieves highimpact effects, either visual or emotional. She has dedicated some of her works to the Argentinean Tango, others to black prostitutes, and also to some scenes taken from films played by Marilyn Monroe. The volume documents her creative itinerary from the beginning to some of her last creations, such as the tonguetwisters
of "Coloured Lips", the flags of "Patch the Flags", "Einstein in", "Einstein etc", "Knesset and Kefiah". Since the '90s, the Swiss artist has been taking part in important international events and has been organizing some significant personal exhibitions, both in Italy and abroad.
