Tim Gardner was initially recognized for the smallscale watercolors of his peers and family, exquisitely rendered from snapshots. Gardner's new work, larger than life pastels, focuses intently on his immediate family. His new portraits depict himself, his brothers, and parents at varying ages, taken from "professional" studio shots. Steven Stern writes: "On the one hand, we cannot run away from our origins, and on the other, running away is all we ever do. These images remind us of the ways in which we are forever home, but not home."
