The exhibition Joan Miró. Metamorfosi delle forme, is mainly devoted to sculpture and presents about seventy works created by the great Catalan artist (Montroig, Barcellona, 1893 – Palma de Maiorca, 1983) among sculptures, paintings, tapestries and drawings coming from the most part from the collection of Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, France. Miró's sculptures, moulded in bronze after 1966, upon request of Mr and Mrs Maeght, testify the participation of this Master to the ideals of dada and surrealist vangards. The first assemblagese and sculptures-objets by Miró originate from his willingness to use non-conventional materials, thus overpassing the traditional idea of artwork. The sculptures on display are the result of the combination of objects found by the artist during his walks in the country or on the beach; from Miró's fantasy emerge the curious and surprising characters testifying the relationship existing between drawings, paintings and sculptures in the Master's production.

This catalogue includes the colour reproductions of all the works on display. The volume is enriched by an introduction by the exhibition curator, Jean Louis Prat, and by two essays on Miró's sculpture, written by Alain Jouffroy and Jacques Dupin.
