Founded in 1976 and edited by Mario Santoro up to 1989, the years of his death, Esperienze Letterarie has been edited by Marco Santoro since 1990.
During these years, some of the most important scholars of Italian literature, both Italian and foreign, as well as young scholars, have given their valued contribution to improve it. The magazine has gained in popularity on an international level as one of the most prestigious periodicals edited among studies of Italian culture and literature, where, in the wake of the not accidental heading title, the vocation to promote open discussion has been open-mindedly and steadily favored and stimulated; this is more effective the more it is founded on the basis of proposals and results derived from different points of view and methods, but marked (and justified) anyhow by a specific common denominator: scientific truth.
In order to guarantee an ever more concise and precise information exchange on Italianistic studies in Italy and abroad, Esperienze Letterarie is not only supported by the important contribution of foreign scholars - first among which the illustrious members of the foreign Editorial Committee - but it has also noticeably stimulated the Rassegne, Recensioni, Schede and Spoglio delle riviste literary surveys (examining approximately forty periodicals, many of them published abroad).
