This antology proposes the first essays of a group of philologists and musicologists who are proceeding with the systematic study, aimed at providing a new critical edition, digital and printed, of the lyrics of Thibaut de Champagne. Thibaut de Champagne was a great historical figure of the thirteenth century, as well as a poet cited by Dante Alighieri in De vulgari eloquentia together with the other doctores illustres. He was a descendant of kings, dukes and counts of the noblest lineage, but also a proud and rebellious baron, an excellent troubadour, a composer and performer of music and one of the first composers, well before Petrarch, of his own poetically structured songbook.
