The "Next School - New Entrances" exhibition is open from 6 September to 3 November at the exhibition area in the converted cotton mill cotonificio di S. Marta. The exhibition illustrates the work of eight architects with teaching posts at the Venice Faculty of Architecture: Aldo Aymonino, Alberto Cecchetto, Armando dal Fabbro, Carlo Magnani, Gino Malacarne, Giovanni Marras, Renato Rizzi, and Roberto Sordina.
The projects on show, completed works and research projects conducted with a view to construction, reflect several trends visible in the Venetian School concerning different methods of construction and simultaneously teaching architecture and communicating its precepts to new generations.
The work of these architects is distinguished by architectural construction, teaching, and civil commitment within the framework of the institution.
The works in the exhibition confirm that the School has pursued several fixed themes that have always represented a distinguishing factor, while simultaneously introducing new presences that establish an uninterrupted link with the generations of the great architects of the past.
Reflections on the city, the landscape, representation and relationships with history are themes that constitute the cultural heritage of the School, and that find new forms of expression for this legacy in the work of these eight architects.
Each of the highly individualistic projects presented confirms the fact that the Venetian School continues to be a workshop of international importance because of its unique approach to understanding architecture and communicating it as an academic discipline.
Organisation and design of the exhibition: Eleonora Mantese and Renato Rizzi with the participation of Fernanda De Maio, Valerio Mosco and Ilhyun Kim
