The Russian painter of Jewish origin, is one of the great masters of contemporary art. After finishing his studies in St.Petersburg, he moved to Paris in 1910. The artist then returned to Russia in 1914 where he remained until 1922. Returning to Paris, where he completed some of the most significant modern works of the 20th century. From the 1940's he moved his work to the south of France, where he tirelessly painted up until his death in 1985 at 90 years of age.
