Goldsmith has always characterised Florence's culture and life. Since the XII century, Florence had held the primacy in goldsmith production within the Art Guilds, which, together with the Silk Art of Por Santa Maria, conjugated precious materials with fascinating workmanship. Today, with Arte Orafa a Firenze, la Cultura di un Mestiere exhibition, which is taking place within the 70th Mostra Internazionale dell'Artigianato in the beautiful Grotte of Fortezza da Basso, we present the history and excellent production of Florentine craftsmanship. Here, goldsmith and silversmith are shown together representing the high value that is given to jewels and accessories and to the history and evolution of this art, as our training institutes demonstrate presenting models of different historical periods and pieces of such master artists and sculptors.
