International Sculpure in Racconigi, 2010 is the sixth edition of a biennial exhibition series promoted by the Region of Piedmont and organized by the Piedmontese Art Association, in partnership with the Piedmont Superintendency fpr Architectural Heritage and Landscape.
The first two editions, curated by Victor De Circasia, took place in the Park of the Mandria, while the subsequent ones, curated like this one by Luciano Caramel, were hosted in the park and gardens at the Ducal Castle of Agliè.
This edition has found its ideal home at the Castle of Racconigi, where a setting of extraordinarily beautiful architecture and nature provides the splendid backdrop for contemporary sculpture to dialogue with the environment, enabling the observer to admire the works of some of the greatest contemporary sculptors in Italy, the United Kingdom and Taiwan.
The photographs that illustrate this volume, taken by Enzo Isaia, offer readers the opportunity to "take a walk with their eyes" through a magnificent historical park that a series of targeted projects has enabled us to restore, so today's visitor can see it as it was laid out by the German landscape gardener Xavier Kurten, who designed it for Cralo Alberto in 1821. This is an exhibition that has every right to be numbered among the most important sculpture events to take place anywhere in the World.
