The immediate impression aroused by the works of Y.Z. Kami (Tehran, 1956) in their observers is a feeling of placid contemplation. Both portraits, which represent most of his production, and abstract paintings seem immersed in a transcendental atmosphere that has little to do with the relativity of the present and the vicissitudes of life. An aura of lightness and at the same time of strong spirituality envelops them, placing them in an indefinite time and space. The book traces a journey into the artistic universe of this "painter of indivisibility", full of references to both Eastern and Western history of art, literature and theology. A wide selection of texts and works retraces the stages of the Light, Gaze, Presence exhibition, born from the artist's encounter with some symbolic places of the city of Florence and its heritage, from the magnificent Basilica of San Miniato to the Salone dei Cinquecento at Palazzo Vecchio, from Istituto degli Innocenti to Museo Novecento.
