A tribute to the greatest female Portuguese painter of the 20th century, Maria Helena Vieira da Silva, almost forty years after her last exhibition in Italy. Sixty important paintings coming from the world's principal museums.

Sixty paintings document sixty years of activity by the Portuguese painter Maria Elena Vieira da Silva (Lisbon 1908 - Paris 1992), whose work which has exercised a powerful influence in Italy too is characterized by a sort of obsession with composition that gives rise to imaginary locations, labyrinths and multiple perspectives.
A series of masterpieces outstanding among them La machine optique (1937), Le désastre ou La guerre (1942) and Les grandes constructions (1956) guides the reader on an exploration of Vieira da Silva's favorite subjects, such as libraries, cities, ateliers, ports, stations and landscapes.
