The Netherlandish Yearbook for History of Art 36 contains a collection of articles that focus on the physical qualities of the book, its text and its illumination. An interdisciplinary approach, this publication provides new insights into these topics. Certain books made in the Netherlands are featured: a Gouden Legende from 1450 and Alheyt van Limberghen's Getijdenboek from 1491. This publication is also the first to catalogue the Dutch-owned Bolognese miniatures that include pieces of high quality. The 'Lebu239;nas Codex', a Franco-Saxon document dating from around 1825-1850 is described and placed within its context. Finally, the book devotes attention to French book illumination. The scriptorium at the St. Savuer Abbey in Audin as a producer of Roman manuscripts is discussed, and the commissioning situation for the Petites Heures dating from around 1375 is reconstructed.
