This double issue is volume 42-43 of the Netherlands Yearbook for History of Art. It focuses on the work of the artist Hendrick Goltzius from Haarlem, who lived from 1558 to 1617. He was one of the most important Dutch artists of his age. The Goltzius yearbook includes the results of recent investigation. There is commentary on the biography of Goltzius by his contemporary Karel van Mander. The stylistic and substantive aspects of his work are discussed. The allegorical character of the prints is analysed. An extensive bibliography along with contributions and summary in English complete the yearbook.
